Description

Getting Closer, Becoming Larger and Slightly Fading Comet C/2023 E1 (ATLAS) August 15th 2023
One hour of stacking shows this very large and diffuse 11th magnitude comet is still surprisingly active as it reaches its MOID with the Earth on August 18th of this year.  As a reminder C/2023 E1 reached Perihelion on July 1st, 2023 and has been closing its distance to a mere 0.374au from us in three days when this image was stacked.

Activity is quite evident in the original revision of the comet centered and stacked version (with the stars removed).  So check it out to view the tail length and direction.  Not so obvious in the final revision in the over crowded Cygnus starfield.
